How is Selkirk Minor Hockey Connected to Winnipeg Minor Hockey?

What sense does this make?  What is the history and how did this even happen?  I mean, you only have two provincial AAA teams in the city as it is, yet the Thrashers have access to the best from Selkirk and whatever small towns are linked to them (David Aime?), while Interlake struggles every year with their City Midget and provincial midget teams?  Meanwhile kids just outside the perimeter go to Eastman or Interlake, as they should by the way, that's why they are called boundaries.  Let's do something about this Selkirk thing, though.

Blades Coach, Management not too Sharp

What a sad situation in Beausejour.  They seem to be dressing 13-14 skaters a game as they take it on the chin each night.  It is a particularly sad state of affairs as this year's edition of the team is worse that last year's version.  Kudos to the current roster of kids who show up gamely each night to face the inevitable.  The coach and GM have run this team right into the ground.  Beausejour is probably too small for a Junior A team anyway but it's a town that will support a properly run team.  They have a beautiful arena and they are close to Winnipeg.  It should be no problem getting kids here but it tells you what the real concern is:  coaches and management who don't know what they are doing.  How is this year's edition of the fight DVD coming Kurt?

Is it Finally Time to Ban Fighting?

In light of the Sanderson death in Ontario, observers are looking at fighting in a different sense. Is it really necessary? Does a fight really "lift" a team to new heights of motivation? Are they really that fun to watch...honestly are most of the fights truly "entertaining"? If they are, at what cost? I guess the costs range from someone's life to someone's roster spot as most junior teams still seem to make room for a so-called tough guy, assuming at the expense of someone who might be a better hockey player? Let's hear some intelligent responses to this post folks!

Adding more fuel to the fighting fire is the unfortunate news that AHL enforcer, Garrett
Klotz of the Philadelphia Phantoms had to take by ambulance to the hospital after a fight Saturday night that left him seizing on the ice. Fortuntately, Klotz is fine, but even Gary Bettman is finally acknoweldging that a closer look at the "rules of engagement" when it comes to fighting, needs to be studied at the league meetings in March.

Are the Blues and Saints in trouble between the Pipes?

We're not sure whats going on here but both teams seem to relying on MMJHL APs to serve as back-ups? What's happened to Kullman in the Saints camp? The Blues made a nice acquistion in the highly-touted Dreger but he reported and left?

MJHL Trade Deadline Passes with Little Fanfare

The MJHL trade deadline passed with little action of significance...or so it seems. It seems the league's best teams are confident in their current rosters as Selkirk, Winnipeg Saints, Portage and Winkler did not make any blockbuster deals unless you include the 8 player deal between the Blues and Saints that saw the main cog in the deal, goalie Jordon Dreger quit the Blues, leaving them with huge question marks in goal after they moved Eric Potvin to Ontario to make room for the moody Dreger. The rich get richer as Tri-Cities reassigned Jason Gardiner to Selkirk. What's the connection with Selkirk and Tri-Cities anyway? And why are marginal Dub players Wilgosh and Shinnimin are still there? Everret Silvertips reassigned Jordan Mistelbacher to the Saints, where they have to be the deepest team up front in the MJ.
